Wow, Mobland! Anybody see the final episode last night? Absolutely fantastic that series, from the first episode to the last - incredible. Season 2 is confirmed I believe, Tom Hardy has said it's coming back with another season.
{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen the final episode yet, I will watch that as soon as I get a chance. I have enjoyed it so far.}

You're in for a treat Ed1 mate, it's really good. I might even watch them all again.
{Ed001's Note - I just had a notification to tell me it is available to watch now, so I might just take a break and watch it. I have been trying that Dept Q, not sure if I like it or not though, it is odd.}

I've not heard of that one, Ed1 mate. After a quick search it's certainly rated highly. I'll have to have a look at it.
Take a break and watch mobland mate, it's got to be done! Fk everyone on the sites, mobland comes first! Lol.
I don't know how you do it to be honest, I'm guessing you're on a computer editing? If I were to be on a computer all day mate I'd be getting distracted by watching stuff lol and gaming! Ah gaming, a thing of the past for me but my God I miss the gaming days!
{Ed001's Note - I miss gaming, but this lappy is not able to cope with any games any more anyway, it overheats so gaming is out for me at the moment.}

03 Jun 2025 15:27:56
Ed1, them Chromebooks are good mate, only issue is they aren't for gaming really, more for work. Cheap and cheerful though. My lads use them but I must admit, the only thing I use at home is my PC, for me I just enjoy being sat at the PC in my own space.
I watched that dept q last night mate, I can't really judge it yet as I only watched the one episode but I think it's promising, going to watch another 1-2 tonight. It's actually number 1 on Netflix at the moment so I'm trying to think, it must be good? Lol.
{Ed001's Note - chrome books are no good for me, not powerful enough. I have a gaming lappy but it was budget and that was a mistake. Still it does the job for now.
Have you watched The City Is Ours? I was very disappointed as hearing it was set in Liverpool, I assumed it was about LFC!}

Haha Ed1, yes mate I've seen that as well, I thought it was brilliant. I think I'd read they're doing another series as well. While I'm thinking about it did you ever watch the series 'Kin'? Another great one, an Irish crime family. I think there's 3 seasons of it.
I watched another 2 episodes of dept q, I still can't figure out if I like it or not to be honest. It's one of them, I think it'll depend on how the ending is. I'm hoping what I'm seeing about that woman isn't dragged out for the entire series and there's more twists and turns.
As for laptops, I remember years ago they used to do beast Alienware gaming laptops, do you remember them? I wouldn't even know if the brand is still around nowadays but they used to make really good stuff. A mate of mine has a gaming one, I think it's MSI but not certain. They cost a bomb but worth it because they tend to last a lot longer than normal non gaming laptops.
Put up a donate button again mate, the site will easily fund you a new laptop - after all the work you put in! I'm sure people, myself included will help out. See, we're in a tricky situation here because if your new laptop is to suddenly die, we're all buggered! The sites will come to a standstill and the world will soon end. Operation: Ed1's new laptop, must begin!
{Ed001's Note - I have never even heard of Kin, I will keep an eye out for it.
I am still not sure if I liked Dept Q after finishing it, but I did watch it all so that suggests it was good enough to keep me watching.
Alienware are owned by Dell now, still around and making good lappies, but they are a bit pricey for what you get. Desktops are better value.
I don't like asking for donations mate. It is bad enough having ads on the sites.}

Kin is definitely worth watching mate, a really good one - I'm surprised I forgot to mention it sooner.
I tried getting a copy of the new Karate kid but the copy is so bad, gutted! I also wouldn't mind watching that new film 'Sinners'.
Oh wow Dell, another blast from the past - I remember in 99/00 (around that time) buying my first computer for home from cash converters and it was a Dell one which I just loved from the moment I got it, a pentium 2! I remember saying at the time that I'll probably still have it in 20 years because computers couldn’t possibly get much better! ?.
As daft as it may sound, I wish I still had an old computer from 25 years ago, and be able to use the old dial up internet again for a one off. Remember downloading a song from limewire and it'd say something like 3 days and 8 hours remaining ?.
{Ed001's Note - I remember that well. And trying to get a video clip like on tok tik or something would take weeks to download. Now it is almost instant. Amazing how things move on.
Have you seen The Bonds man yet?}

Hahaha, so true mate - the youngsters of today don't know the struggle we once had to go through. My God it was painful at times. I remember downloading an album and it took ages, I went to play it on winamp and it wasn't supported! I felt well hard done by lol.
I'm yet to watch the bonds man mate, I think I'll start it after this dept q actually. Did you manage to watch a thousand blows yet? I think I'll watch it again at some point.
{Ed001's Note - yes, I did watch that, it was OK but didn't really stand out for me. I am watching Mr Inbetween again at the moment. I saw the first couple of series of it ages ago, so I thought I would start it again and watch it all the way through. Really good show that.}

05 Jun 2025 15:35:23
Ohhh yes, Mr inbetween, I forgot about that. It's one I saw clips for a while back and I thought it looked good but just never started it. I'll have to note it down so I don't forget it!
I don't know if I've mentioned it before but did you ever watch banshee? For fight scenes it was excellent. I just looked it up and it started in 2013, crazy it doesn't feel that long ago.
{Ed001's Note - yeah I have seen Banshee, it was very good. I need to catch up on Stranger Things and The Boys.}
Agree0

05 Jun 2025 16:00:53
Ah you see, stranger things I couldn't get into but I think I was way too quick to write it off, I only watched a couple of episodes. Loads of people have recommended it to me since and I'm yet to give it another go.
The boys I've not seen, again I've heard plenty about it though. I should give both a go.
Yesterday somebody told me Heat 2 was getting done this year, I've not looked it up yet but that'd be interesting. Nothing, I'd imagine would beat the first one but it'd be interesting to see where they could take it if it does happen. I just can't imagine it without an in the prime De Niro, Al Pacino and Val kilmer! They were too good in that film.
{Ed001's Note - both are well worth a watch mate.
I saw Heat years ago but don't remember it at all. It didn't stick with me as being anything special, or even particularly good to be honest.}

Anyone watching Mobland?
Seems pretty good

Need to start watching Gangs of london - wife will probably start watching Last of Us so it will delay Gangs ?
Thanks for reply and confirmation
{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen Last of Us yet, let me know if it is worth watching. The new series hasn't gone down all that well from what I have seen in news feeds etc. I have been watching Andor recently, that isn't too bad. Not the usual Star Wars fodder.}

Mobland is brilliant - it’s just a shame we only get new episodes weekly!
I also really enjoyed Gangs of London Season 3 - I agree with you Ed1, it is better than the second season.
Have you seen 'This City Is Ours'? absolutely loved that as well.
Lately, I’ve been running out of things to watch, but I’ve dipped into some of Harlan Coben’s series on Netflix. They’re usually not the kind of thing I’d go for but I’ve been pleasantly surprised - full of twists and turns where you never quite know what’s coming next. If you haven’t seen any of them yet, I’d definitely recommend starting with 'Fool Me Once' and 'The Stranger'.
{Ed001's Note - have you tried The Bonds man yet? Not sure if that is Netflix though.}

Cheers Ed1, I'll give it a watch mate. Tell you what though mate, I haven't seen a decent film in ages, it's all about the series for me - miles better!
I miss all the films from the 90s, they'll never have a better period in my opinion.
I watched that Havoc the other day, thought it was alright but one I wouldn't watch again.
{Ed001's Note - I have watched Havoc twice, so I will stay out of it.}

13 May 2025 15:52:03
Twice Ed1?! You deserve a loyalty card or something equivalent. One more watch and I think you unlock behind the scenes access lol ??
Speaking of Tom Hardy, I rate most of his work, I got recommended 'Taboo' only an hour or so ago. Have you seen it? Released 2017, I've never even heard of it!
{Ed001's Note - I have seen Taboo, but it never really captured me. I enjoyed Havoc, I like martial arts films mate. Oh there was a decent film out at Xmas, if you haven't seen it. Carry On, was well worth a watch.}

Adolescence is a good watch - I more episode to watch. Really enjoyed Tbe City is ours.
Last Dance is brilliant as is Big Swing - great insight into winning mentality and mental strength.
Reacher is an easy enjoyable watch - last series is a little silly
Mindhunter is quality Netflix
Billions is quality
The boys on Amazon
Enjoyed first few series of You
Day of the Jackal is good
Chernobyl is a great watch
Enjoy your evening - Tabo was good and I could only watch that film once.
{Ed001's Note - Day of the Jackal was very good. As was Reacher. Have to say Billions was just OK though, I didn't like any of the characters, so couldn't get invested in caring what happened to them. Adolescence was excellent, I agree. I like The Boys as well. Is Last Dance the Jordan one? If so I agree brilliant stuff. Not seen the rest though.}

Another one I just remembered is American primeval - really good one, I think there's only about 6 episodes but well worth it.
I started taboo tonight, I only watched the one episode but wasn't too impressed, I'll try another tomorrow. Carry on - another new one on me, I am starting a list now!
I do like martial arts films as well mate usually. We need more like bloodsport and kickboxer etc, absolutely brilliant films! and Never back down, I thought that was pretty good, I might have to rewatch these!
Did you watch any of the cobra kai series mate? it was one of them for me when I first started it I thought it was daft lol but ended up really enjoying it.
{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen American Primeval yet, I will have to get round to that.
I started watching Cobra Kai when it was just a YouTube series the two stars put together and loved it. They got the nostalgia spot on, just enough to make it nice, but not enough to just end up being a look back at the original films. It was daft, but really good fun. I am looking forward to the new Karate Kid film with Jackie Chan. Which reminds me, I did see a really enjoyably daft Jackie Chan film with a horse called Ride On. He is getting old, but he is still the best at the kung fu comedy films.}

American Primeval is probably the best I've seen this year so far I think Ed1 mate, really well made.
Ah yes that Ride on film, I forgot about that film! it's one I wanted to watch ages ago. I love Jackie Chan, I think he'll be in his 70's now but he's brilliant. The karate kid film should be really good.
The Paper Tigers is another one I've been meaning to watch, have you seen it mate?
{Ed001's Note - no I haven't seen that yet but it is one I have been meaning to watch too.}

Ed1, you seen that new series 'A thousand blows'? absolutely fantastic mate. Finished it last night and was gutted there's only the 6 episodes but apparently season 2 has already been filmed.
Just started to watch 'top boy' no idea if that's any good or not, seems promising though mate, I think there's 3 seasons of it.
{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen A Thousand Blows yet, it is on my watch list though. I have seen Top Boy, I like it, I thought it was very good, as was the film that preceded it.}

Ah Ed1, you’re in for a real treat with A Thousand Blows, mate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Stephen Graham in anything that wasn’t top quality. He’s got another series coming out on the 30th (I think) called Adolescence, so I’ll be checking that out.
Glad you’ve watched and enjoyed Top Boy! Seems like we have a similar taste in tv/film, so I’ll definitely stick with it. It gave me Snowfall vibes, absolutely loved that series as well.
{Ed001's Note - yeah I liked that as well. What about Reacher? Have you seen that? I am just starting the third series of that.}

Wish I had more time to just binge watch everything lol these days it's about finding an hour or two spare to be able to put something on!
I'd got mixed up above when I'd said Adolescence is out on the 30th, it's actually out this week - on the 30th is another series called 'Mobland' which looks good.

I'm my own worst enemy with series that I like though, once I start them I binge them and then have bugger all to watch again ?
While I'm here, another top series - one I absolutely loved and forgot to mention it the other day is Gangs of London, the battle scenes in that are just absolutely unreal.
{Ed001's Note - I love that too. Also Tulsa King is good.}

Hope all is well mate.
{Ed001's Note - all good mate, not been able to watch anything either with my parents staying. They hog the TV in the evenings if there is no footie on. Me ma and her obsession with programmes about murders is quite disturbing to be honest. If I disappear, you will know what happened!}

How long they visiting for mate? Hope they're enjoying their time, lucky buggers you lot all over there! I'm not jealous! :)

A great actor that fella though, I can't say I've seen him in anything else but I said the other day, he'd be a great bond. For me it'd have to be this fella or the one from mcmafia, both talented British actors.
{Ed001's Note - Eddie Redmayne? He was in the Harry Potter prequels, Fantastic Beasts etc, as the main star.}

Haven't been on here in ages, any recommendations for a good series? I need something new and good to watch, been watching a lot of sh*te recently, everytime I try something new from Netflix it's terrible apart from Monsters season 2 about the Menendez brothers, that was excellent.
I then watched the first one about Dahmer and it did my head in more than anything because of how bad the authories were. Very interesting though and well made if anybody hasn't seen them I'd highly recommend watching them.
{Ed001's Note - Day of the Jackal is quite good. The Gentlemen is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Not sure if they are on Netflix or not though.}

14 Jan 2025 13:16:56
Cheers Ed1, heard of The gentlemen, I'll have to give it a go followed by the other one mate. Will find them if I can't on Netflix.
Netflix to be honest is doing my head in, I find it a waste of money to be fair, I might end up cancelling if the two you mention aren't on it because there's just too much crap on there.
I don't pay my TV license out of pure principle so signed the waiver and will never pay it again but now I'm paying for Netflix and at times I think, for what?
Same as prime but I don't tend to use that one it's more for the free next day deliveries on Amazon.
Ted lasso was also mentioned the other day mate, have you seen it? I loved it, a great one to chill out to.
{Ed001's Note - I get Prime, Netflix, OSN+ and Disney+ with my phone and internet contracts free. When I was in the Philippines, all of those things cost just 149php a month - there are usually about 75php to the £, so about £2 a month there.
I loved the first couple of seasons of Ted Lasso but haven't seen any further as Apple is the only subscription thing I haven't got.}

Christ Ed1, what a deal! Robbing buggers over here mate as you know, everything is going up nothing is cheap lol.
I think I'm paying about 11 for Netflix, something like that and 9 I think for prime so quite a big difference . after a quick search one of them programs are on prime and the other is on Netflix so will keep them for now.
Compared to my phone deal. only thing I got free with my contract was Disney+ which I don't use and it was only for 3 months, again robbing sods.
Is there anything like the TV licence out there mate? Or is anything like that just not heard of out there?
I can't remember what I watched Ted lasso on mate but it was on one of the dodgy sites, I'll have to check my bookmarks when I get home tonight.
{Ed001's Note - I saw Lasso on a dodgy site too! Nobody else does a TV license. It is a shame that the BBC has devolved so far from what it should be, now the TV license is just not right for a biased broadcaster. It was supposed to give them the freedom to be unbiased and tell the truth.}

I know you can't post the link mate but I'll share it for your eyes only, looked at my bookmarks and luckily this dodgy site works still, I found at one time last year tons were taken down including this one but it's back and has season 3 on it.

Ed001 you watching hawkeye?
I am really enjoying it, although all these disney + shows and phase 4 is effectively origin stories. I am on to you Marvel!
In the superhero genre I have always preferred the stories that are more human orientated. I.e. batman or iron-man. So it's nice to get a disney plus show that takes it back and isn't about superpowers or magic.
Plus the character they have brought into the fold is fresh and won't just be a re hash of the hawkeye we are familiar with.
I don't want to say too much for those that haven't seen it but I would definitely recommend if someone is after a lighter TV show. Plus it happens around Christmas, what's not to like?
{Ed001's Note - I haven't had a chance to see it yet. I keep meaning to start watching it but time gets away from me at the moment. Glad to know it is worth a watch though!}

Some good shows releasing new seasons this month and at the start of next year.
The Expanse season 6 is released this month, then early 2022 you've got Stranger Things season 4, Better Call Saul season 6 and Peaky Blinders season 6.
Ironically, all of which should have come out this year, but the pandemic pushed back Stranger Things, Bob Odenkirk having a heart attack pushed by Better Call Saul and the death of Helen McCrory (Polly Gray) pushed back Peaky Blinders.
It will be interesting to see what they do with Polly in Peaky Blinders. There is talk of a replacement actress, but the only one who could fit the role in my opinion is Sigourney Weaver (purely because her and Helen look very similar), but who knows if she can do a Birmingham accent convincingly lol.
I mean look at these two pictures, they really do look alike.

I really enjoyed it, it is a slow start but he is one of the best characters that the MCU has created so plenty of scope for the show.
I am slightly worried that it will get really daft with the multiple timelines, similar to X-Men which has left it unwatchable for me. But they haven’t made many mistakes yet so I’m sure they will get it right. And I’m still not 100% sure of the rules for time I’m the MCU.
I can’t remember where I saw it but there was a list of 10 best actors on these sites, hiddlestone has to be in there for me he’s a cracking actor.
{Ed001's Note - that was on the movies and you are right, he is an exceptional actor, I can't believe we forgot about him!
I agree on Loki being one of the best characters, but in large part I would say Hiddlestone helps to make him quite so good. You put him and Thor together and it is always very watchable as the two bounce off each other brilliantly with some fantastic lines.
Time travel stuff can often end up messy, when you add multiverses in too, you are right it can just get silly. Hopefully the lighthearted nature of Loki will help make it work. It certainly does with Legends of Tomorrow, which was awful when it was played straight, mind all those DC shows, such as Arrow and Flash, are terrible, they are like 80s teatime TV, so dated. Legends doesn't take itself seriously and so became watchable and enjoyable, at least until the latest series, which might be a season too far.}

My concerns above have been settled and can't wait for what comes next.
It also reaffirmed what we said, Hiddlestone is a very good actor and one of the very best out there.
{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, I did enjoy the one with multiple Lokis though. I have to say Hiddlestone is impressing but I did think he was a bit outshone by the alligator in ep 5.....}

Watched it yet Ed? And if the alligator doesn't get an Oscar for that performance, there's just no justice. Such a snappy performance deserves the highest of accolades.
{Ed001's Note - I did watch it. I am unsure though how I felt. Which I think is good because they made me think, there was no meh was that it? Instead it left me wondering. And now you have left me groaning.}

I loved it, it's the first show that properly linked to the MCU imo.
Wandavision ended up being a prequel for the scarlett witch we will see in Doctor strange.
Falcon was an orgin story for new cap but Loki truly has huge implications going forward for the MCU as we know it. Plus I had no idea who Jonathan Majors was so didn't realise it was kang (or a variant) until the Conqueror line.
He made the episode for me, it takes a talented actor to have effectively a monolouge but keep you interested. I also loved the opening sequence.
The episode made me feel a lot better about how they are going to deal with the multiverse moving forward and I think by doing that, everything Marvel has ever done. X-men Fantastic 4, Deadpool etc has all just become canon. I thought I would struggle to keep being interested in the movies after endgame, but nope, I am hooked again!
{Ed001's Note - I would love to see a Deadpool series next.}

Hi Ed. Started watching Ted Lasso last night, its funny and i think it will end up quite heart warming.
Have you seen it?
{Ed001's Note - yes mate, sorry if I had known you hadn't seen it I would have recommended it. Someone mentioned it on the Liverpool site just after it came out, so I watched it then. I really like it, though I haven't seen season 2, if that is out yet?
Mythic Quest I quite like as well, on the same sort of comedy lines, though not about football.}
